  1. Moisture builds up in ski boots when ski boots get wet. Many people suspect that their boots have sprung a leak. This is highly unlikely given the quality of boots manufactured today. What's more likely is that the moisture us coming form inside the boot. Of all parts of your body, your feet have the highest number of sweat glands per square inch. The insulating material absorbs moisture before moving in vapor form toward the shell of the boot. As vapor approaches the shell, it meets cold temperatures and condenses. Over time the buildup in moisture reduces the boot's ability to insulate the foot, diminishing body temperature 25 times faster than air.

  2. Chinook boot dryers are for athletes who play soccer, football, baseball, lacrosse, etc. Wet cleats get cold and damp from moisture buildup. By using a boot dryer and removing the moisture, your feet will feel warm and dry.

  3. Bacteria grow in warm moist environments and causes infections. More than 60,000 diabetics per year lose their toes to infections, and it's estimated that 75% of these amputations could be avoided with proper foot care.

  4. How can I get rid of the smell? To eliminate the smell you need to remove the food source that the bacteria is eating. With closed shoes (sneakers, boots, etc.) this means drying the inside of the garment to remove the food source for bacteria. You could also wear open shoes like sandals or open toe shoes. You could also use a shoe or boot dryer.

  5. To reduce the amount you feet and shoes smell, decrease the amount of bacteria on your feet.
